Brief: Support for contemporary photographers and community outreach
The FLORIDA MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS opened in 2001 – originally as the Tampa Gallery of Photographic Arts in Hyde Park – to cater to the work of photographic artists and to offer the public a place to explore their own creativity through the art of photography. In addition to exhibitions from contemporary photographers such as Peter B. Kaplan, Aaron Siskind, Lynne Cohen, Barbara Kasten, Clyde Butcher, and David Audet, FMoPA features lectures and workshops, amateur and professional members shows, and the photography of children, many who are classified "at-risk." A full roster of classes are always being offered for anyone who wants to learn state of the art techniques or improve their own picture-taking. (113)
